Coffee Syrup Dispenser

Who Drinks Flavoured Coffees?

We have all seen them, heard of them, but how many of us have actually tasted flavoured coffees?

The coffee connoisseur would not touch them with a barge-pole and might explain that good coffee has a lovely flavour anyway, so why mess with it.

In addition, of course, you can enjoy many different coffee flavours (not flavoured coffees) by choosing a particular coffee bean to suit your tastes. How the coffee is brewed and presented will also effect the taste – You may prefer your coffee as a latte, a mocha or a cappuccino for example.

Where then do flavoured coffees fit in exactly?

Coffees flavoured with amaretto, vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon, irish cream, almond, mint and many other unusual flavours offer the coffee drinker an entertaining alternative.

Available as both filter fine – pre ground or as a whole bean, flavoured coffees can be bought in many places. However there is a problem – grinders and coffee brewing equipment will become tainted with the coffee flavouring even after one use and it will take extensive cleaning before regular beans or coffee is ground or brewed again.

If you buy a presentation pack of many different flavoured coffees, which is popular, then you are likely to get cross contamination of flavours in your brewing equipment, whatever your chosen method of brewing.

By using coffee flavouring syrups you can avoid this problem altogether. These are available from many retail outlets and professional coffee supply companies and have a considerable shelf-life. Simply dispense your selected flavoured syrup into your shot of espresso or regular coffee and prepare the rest of your drink in the unusual way.

One well known make of flavoured coffee syrups is 1883 Phillibert de Routin. They produce a vast range of over 70 interesting flavours all available in quality glass bottles or individual one portion sachet sticks. Not all flavours are suitable for coffee as some are used in preparing desserts. This particular brand also prides itself on only using natural ingredients, free from artificial colours and preservatives.

Then you, your family and perhaps your customers can enjoy the occasional flavoured coffee without the effort of cleaning the equipment or flavour mixing that might otherwise occur. As coffee syrup flavourings are quite distinct and strong they usually overwhelm the original coffee taste, so there is little point in using an expensive blend.

In summary, flavoured coffees can be fun and enjoyed as a one-off, but they should never be a substitute for the real thing!

Coffee Machine For The Office

coffee machine for the office

Coffee Machines…the only way to make it through the day!

With the majority of the population working in an office environment you’d be forgiven for thinking that the piece of office equipment most used would be the telephone or fax machine…but you’d be wrong!

The most commonly used piece of office equipment is the office coffee machine…Really? I hear you cry… and the answer is YES…

These coffee machines are now commonplace in most offices and offer you the ‘drinker’ convenient quality coffee in a few simple steps! We’ve all used them and if, like me you love a caffeine kick, you’ll know that these machines are going from strength to strength in the competitive world of coffee!

Drinks machines nowadays offer you a wide selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolates with a menu capable of rivaling your local coffee shop. Plus as a bonus these machines don’t come with a cheery voice telling you to “have a good day” when in fact all you can really think is: “Give me caffeine…NOW”

Industrial size drink machines have become a thing of the past, so much so that you can now invest in drink machines that stand on your desk and prove that less really is more.

No bigger than a small television, they fit neatly onto any surface, and allow you to have that well-earned coffee break any time you like. Most notable at producing these office ‘coffee’ creations is a company called http://www.flaviastore.co.uk whose desktop Flavia creation 400 enables you to have a sleek, fresh coffee machine without all the hassle of having to find somewhere to put it!

Employers want to keep their employees happy, and what better way than by giving them fresh tasting, quality coffee in the staff room. Instant coffee is a thing of the past, and these machines now stock fresh tasting coffee that’s been sealed and is ready to serve instantly. Colombia is one of the main providers of aromatic coffee beans, and with Colombia having many  ‘Master brewers’ is it any wonder that many ‘coffee machines’ choose to stock only the finest roasts?

Burr Grinder

burr grinder

Get a Conical Burr Coffee Grinder to Make the Best Coffee

There are several ways to get better coffee. One way is to purchase better premium coffee beans, the best being the arabica coffee beans. These premium coffee beans are packed with the best coffee taste. These are available in pre-ground powder form or as whole beans. For the coffee lover, the best coffee comes from grinding the whole coffee bean with your own premium coffee grinder right at home.

If you are really interested in improving the flavor of your coffee, you have to purchase a coffee grinder that will give the ability to grind beans on your own. The amazing smell of fresh coffee is generally contained in ungrounded beans. However, after it has been ground, the coffee powder starts to lose its flavor. Coffee will taste best if the beans are ground moments before coffee is brewed.

A conical burr coffee grinder is the best electric coffee grinder available today. It is renowned for its ability to produce uniformly ground beans. This is very important since uniformly ground coffee offers an even surface area to extract from while brewing coffee.

In addition, when brewing espresso, the conical burr blades supplies uniformly ground coffee that allows for an easier wetting and packing of coffee grounds in the espresso machine.

What can a conical burr coffee grinder do for you?

The most important feature of conical burr grinders is that they can grind at a consistent pace while keeping the aroma intact.

Some other advantages of grinding with the state of the art coffee grinders:

1. Reduced heat generation – The amount of heat generated while grounding coffee beans is very minimal in the case of conical burr grinders. The friction that is generated during the grinding when using a conical burr grinder is less because of the mechanics involved in the process. Since heat alters coffee’s flavor, this feature really improves the way your coffee tastes.

2. Fineness in Grinding and consistency – The size of the grind can usually be altered with conical burr grinders from a coarser grind to a very fine grind.

When compared to other coffee grinders, the conical burr coffee grinder is expensive. Additional time and effort is required in cleaning the burrs of this type of grinder.

If you want to make Espresso or Turkish style coffee at your home and still need coffee shop quality, consider investing your money in one of the entry level conical burr coffee grinders. While buying grinders, look out for different ranges of grind settings.

If you are like everyone else, you don’t want the grinder to make a huge noise while grinding coffee beans. Some other grinders with conical burr come with additional add-ons which may cost a little extra. Grind timer and pulse button add-ons will help you transfer coffee directly into the filter. You should also consider the size of the coffee grinder if you don’t have much real estate on your countertop.

If you want the best tasting coffee, and don’t mind paying a premium, you should definitely get what the professionals use – a conical burr coffee grinder.

Single Cup Coffee – A Guide To The Options

Single cup coffee refers to the type of coffee that’s produced from single portion pods or containers – typically using single cup coffee makers specific to the particular brand or type of container. There are currently five main types or formats – Coffee Pods, Tassimo T Discs, Keurig K Cups, Nespresso Capsules and Nescafe Dolce Gusto Capsules, as we explain below.

First though, the common features…

They all allow you to brew a fresh cup of coffee, with only a minimum of waiting time and a minimum of preparation/attention required.

Single cup coffee making does away with the need to grind your own beans and reduces the actions to that of ensuring that there’s enough water in the machine, switching it on, then when hot (which normally only takes a minute of so) inserting the pod/capsule/disc and pressing a button to produce the freshly brewed coffee.

The machines are also typically quite compact, so don’t take up too much space on your kitchen counter or your desk! One thing to note is that it’s typically only the higher-end machines that can produce a true espresso, which is typically accepted as requiring a pressure of 9 bars or more, but may people find the drinks produced by the other machines perfectly acceptable, while being extremely convenient to use.

As mentioned above, single cup coffee comes in five main formats:

  • * Coffee Pods – While these are the most common, interchangeable option, you do need to be aware that the ’standard’ pod size is the 62mm size, as there are also 44mm and 55mm pods/machines. If you stick to the 62mm machines, such as the Philips Senseo single cup coffee makers or the Krups Home Cafe range, you’ll find that you have the widest range of choices, from both the producers of the single cup coffee markers as well as from independent sources. – A main source for this type of coffee pod is the Senseo Douwe Egberts range, which currently has a number of sub-ranges, covering the traditional coffee strengths such as Decaffeinated, Medium Roast, Dark Roast and Expresso, featured blends such as Sumatra Blend, Brazil Blend, Kenyan Blend and Colombia Blend together with other flavors such as Breakfast Blend, Creme Brulee, Chocolate and Paris (French Vanilla).
  • * Tassimo T Discs – These work with the Tassimo range of single cup coffee makers, which are able to read the bar code on the discs, which allow the machine to adjust it’s processing according to the specific needs of the selected disk, including being able to use a ‘milk’ disc when making cappuccinos, etc. – The Tassimo system takes advantage of the capability to adjust the processing according to the particular requirements of the selected drink, so it’s able to dispense a range of drinks from premium coffees, crema coffees, real milk cappuccinos and lattes, espressos, hot chocolates and even teas.
  • * Keurig K Cups – These work with the Keurig range of single cup coffee makers and fit between the T Discs and the Coffee Pods, in that there are more flavors or variations available than for T Discs, but fewer than the ‘open’ Coffee Pod format. – Keurig have partnered with a range of independent companies to provide a huge range of K-Cup varieties, including coffee sources such as Green Mountain Coffee, Diedrich Coffee Roasters, Van Houtte and Timothy’s, Tea brands such as Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow’s and Twinings. They have a large range of blends, covering categories including Extra Bold Roasts (30% more coffee per brew), Dark, Medium & Light Roast, Flavored, Decaffeinated, Fair Trade Certified and Organicm as well as Teas and Hot Cocoa.
  • * Nespresso Capsules – As might be expected by now, the Nespresso Capsules only work with Nespresso single cup coffee makers, with the difference here being that these are the machines that can provide a true espresso, utilizing pressures in excess of the accepted minimum of 9 BAR to force the water through the ground coffee. – One thing to be aware of with the Nespresso system is that while the Nespresso machines are available in various retail locations, the Nespresso capsules are not, but rather have to be purchased directly from Nespresso, either online, via phone or mail or at Nespresso Boutiques. As a result, the ‘running costs’ tend to be somewhat higher than for other systems, which might need to be taken into consideration before purchasing a Nespresso single cup coffee maker.
  • * Nescafe Dolce Gusto Capsules – These are relatively new to the market, but are backed by Nescafe and Krups. There’s a certain overlap between Nescafe’s Nespresso range and this range, but the focus of the Dole Gusto range appears to be on the home market and allowing them to cup a wider range of drinks that just espressos, which is the focus of the Nespresso. – The Dolce Gusto capsule range include Caffe Americano, Mocha, Espresso, Chococino, Cappuccino as well as variations such as Cappuccino Skinny and Cappuccino Ice.

The Nespresso range is probably the option for the true enthusiast, although the Nescafe Dolce Gusto range also uses a professional-level 15-bar pressure system and is worth considering. If new to single cup coffee makers, however, it might be worth starting with a Coffee Pod machine such as the Philips Senseo before seeing if investing in a more expensive system is needed.

Coffee Vending Machine Mechanism

Coffee in the Office – the Traditional Vending Machine

With the choice and variety of office drinks machine available today, choosing the most suitable one for your office can be difficult. I have already posted several articles discussing the pros and cons of different types of machines and in this article we discuss another ‘ the traditional office vending machine.

Many years ago the basic office vending machine consisted of a table top unit containing several canisters of loose dried drinks ingredients, push buttons to select the drink and a simple coin mechanism to enable money to be collected.

A typical arrangement for the machine of ingredient canisters or hoppers would comprise of freeze dried coffee, powdered milk, drinking chocolate, sugar and one other ingredient usually soup. Tea was not really an option as the taste of instant tea was not of sufficient quality and despite improvement this still remains the case today.

A plastic cup was taken from a column, money inserted in the mechanism and the cup put underneath the various selections and a button pressed to select the ingredient required. A white coffee for example would require a 6 stage process to produce a drink that still had to be stirred. Coin inserted, cup taken, coffee pressed, milk pressed, sugar pressed and lastly hot water added by pressing the final button.

This format still forms the basis of many smaller budget office drinks machines today. The technology has improved, the taste and choice of the drinks is vastly superior but the concept remains the same.

Larger automatic machines still use different ingredient hoppers, but have incorporated the whole process into a single one button operation that dispenses the chosen beverage into the cup at a fixed position so there is no need for manual operation.

Generally these types of machines offer instant drinks only, so that tea drinkers are often forced to choice an alternative. This sort of machine is easy to restock as it is a simple matter of refilling the various canisters inside the machine with the appropriate product. However spillages do occur and it is important that a daily cleaning and hygiene process is undertaken.

Modern and more expensive office vending machines can offer fresh brew coffee and leaf tea options and serve fabulous tasting drinks. However the complicated brew process means that cleaning and maintenance is more involved and your service engineer will need to call more often. Machine, drink and service costs are all higher for fresh brew machines, so this needs to be taken into account.

It is always best to discuss your requirements with a reputable supplier who will advise the best solution to your office drinks needs and suggest the most appropriate style of machine to suit your particular office layout, taste and budget.

Planning Special Meals for a Stag Party

Stag parties are the special parties where a man celebrates his last free moments with his friends in order to have the maximum fun and pleasure. In such parties, guests usually arrange everything to pamper an expected groom to make him really special.

Meal Arrangements for a Stag

Generally, for a stag party, buffet service is arranged and staged. Host can make arrangements to pool up every dish on the table for the party people. Interestingly, there are no serving people, places will be already set at the dining table. However, requests for the large linen napkins can be made, although he may settle for the large non-flimsy double paper napkin.

Menus for such parties can be different from other parties. A large variety of splendid foods may be offered to make everyone happy. Boiled franks and sauerkraut are a part of any stag event. It is supported by a bubbling bean pot with cold turkey, ham, tongue, a variety of other cold cuts, and a casserole of scalloped or creamed potatoes or potato salad.

Many a times, mashed sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows are also included. A salad is an integral part of every planned meal. To make it further lavish, you can add old-fashioned coleslaw.

Other interesting meals include buttered rolls or garlic bread, sliced buttered rye bread with a cheese tray, a bowl of fresh mixed fruit on the buffet table.

Coffee for after dinner arrangement can be a great idea. Use a coffee maker for making and ready as and when required.

However, a bulk supply of beer and soft drinks chilling in the refrigerator must be done in advance. Also, make sure you have plenty of ice on hand for other types of drinks.

You can get bowls of popcorn, potato chips, plates of dill pickles and olives and a variety of salty appetizers before the actual dinner time.

A wonderful stag party is successful if proper meal arrangements are taken in care.

Coffee And Weight Loss

coffee and weight loss

Tips for Easy Weight Loss

Weight loss is a hotter topic than ever amoung woman, teenagers, and the middle age. No matter where you fall, these are confusing times. No carb, no carb, low fat, no fat all seem like viable options. Thrown in with, no meat, no cooked vegetables type of diets it’s no wonder why we’re confused!

TIP #1: Fuel it:

Every morning should start with two things. One, you need breakfast. If you’re not eating breakfast you are setting yourself up for failure. Your body needs fuel. If it doesn’t get it in the morning, it will drag. All fuel you do give it later, will be saved. Your body will go into Starvation Mode. While eating sounds like part of the problem, you can’t lose weight without it.

TIP #2 Burn it: Start getting up earlier in the morning to jump start your metabolism. You do this by exercising. If you can’t dedicate alot of time, start with ten minutes a day. Even a short walk around your neighborhood will do you good. Just remember not to reward yourself with fattening food later. For breakfast, keep it simple with things such as eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, or fruit.

TIP #3 Skip the Coffee Shop: If you need coffee in the morning, bring it with you. Studies show you that drinking coffee in a shop packs on more fat in cream and more libral sugar amounts. If you must have coffee out, stay away from lattes, and ask for skim milk instead of the usual cream.

TIP #4 Fuel Your Fire

Have you ever tended a campfire? You probably remember continuously adding sticks and branches to keep the fire from running out of fuel. Your body’s metabolism is similar in its need for constant fuel. Eating a small meal every three hours is a great way to keep your metabolism high all day long. When your metabolism is high you burn more calories throughout the day and are less likely to store fat. Rather than eating 2 or 3 large meals a day, and allowing your ‘fire’ to go out, giving way to hunger pains, try eating a small meal every three hours and be amazed at your weight loss results.

TIP #5 Smarter Carb Choices

I’m sure sometime in the past year you have found yourself subjected to the testimony of a converted ‘low-carb’ enthusiast. While these people may look great it is definitely not the right diet for everyone. Extreme fatigue, crankiness and downright impracticality are what make this diet a tough cookie to swallow. Cutting one or two carb-filled items out of your daily diet can make a huge difference in meeting weight loss goals. You can make better carb choices. Look for whole wheat choices, trade in white potatoes for sweet potatoes.

Coffee Commercial Drive

coffee commercial drive

What Happened To Coffee?

As you probably know, coffee is 2nd most important commodity in the United States. Obviously, if you turn on your TV to watch the news you’ll know what is first. But the coffee industry is big business, what you get at the fast food restaurant or at the office doesn’t even touch on the quality that is out there.

It’s funny how anything that doesn’t come out of the can is considered gourmet coffee. Gourmet coffee is not something that you can’t buy at the grocery store; the most expensive stuff there doesn’t even begin to touch on the quality that is available. Coffee roasting has become an art form.

In a day when big companies use computers to do the dirty work, small specialty companies are still doing it the old-fashioned way with their experience and their brains. Roastmasters spend years honing their craft, and their experience is what makes for a great cup of coffee.

These companies rely on freshness and quality to compete with the big boys who stock the grocery store shelves or ship it out to your local drive thru. You won’t see any of their commercials on TV, even real late at night when there is the cheapest air-time.

These specialty companies are successful simply based on their reputation. They work to get the highest grade beans from all over the world. They test everything to make sure the quality is as good as it gets. And then they baby it. Gourmet coffee is usually roasted in small batches to guarantee that nothing can go wrong.

The time and temperature is completely under their complete control, and experience tells them when the beans are roasted perfectly. Any imperfections and the beans are tossed out and a new batch begins. They can do anything with coffee. They can create the perfect blends, add the best flavors, and guarantee that you will get the best cup of coffee that you have ever tasted.

They rely on word of mouth, reviews, and tasting competitions to get their name out there. In most situations the only way to place an order with them is through the internet. Gourmet Coffee sites are everywhere on the web, but it is often hard to determine where is the best place to go. If you want a head start jump to http://www.bestsite4reviews.com/coffee/ and read about some of the best gourmet coffee companies out there.

And believe or not, most of their coffee costs no more that what you pay for a bag of beans at the supermarket that have been sitting around for a couple of months.
