Steaming In With Espresso Machine Tips

So what exactly is espresso coffee?  An espresso coffee is sold at the café in a small cup and is an extremely strong cup of coffee.  Espresso is used in making café latte, cappuccino and café mocha.  Espresso is made in the espresso machine by forcing about two ounces of hot water through tightly packed finely ground espresso coffee.  The resulting liquid is a deep brown color with a slight froth on top.  Espresso makers differ in the water temperatures, the fineness of the espresso coffee, the pressure with which the water is pressed through the coffee and how tightly the coffee grinds are packed in the machine.

There are many different types of espresso machines available in the market place today in different sizes, styles and abilities.  Just like any other appliance it is important to do your homework before venturing out on your shopping excursion.  Start by asking yourself how often will you use your espresso machine, what will you be using your machine for, how much are your willing to spend and are you willing to trade quality for price.

If you rarely partake in the espresso ritual and prefer an occasional cappuccino or latte, then don’t spend too much money on your machine.  If you are a coffee enthusiast and have acquired a preference for espresso taste then a high end espresso machine is worth the investment.  An espresso coffee machine doubles as both a coffee maker and espresso maker.  If you have limited counter space and like the best of both worlds this machine gives you that option.  Diligently compare espresso machines and find one with features that suit your particular need.

Do your homework before heading out.  Make sure to read espresso machine reviews.  These unbiased consumer reviews give valuable consumer insights.  There are many places to purchase your home style espresso machine; kitchen supply stores, department store home sections, catalogues and online vendors.  Make sure you purchase a machine that matches your level of expertise.

Making espressos is considered an art with a professional espresso maker being referred to as a Barista.  Being an espresso barista in some countries is considered a serious occupation requiring occupational training.  Baristas learn and practice making a consistently high quality shot of espresso.

They learn how to grind the perfect espresso coffee, how to pack the coffee right and how to operate the commercial espresso maker.  Being a home espresso maker however does not require that you take Barista training.  Home style espresso machines are simplified versions of the more complex café style espresso maker.

Once you have purchased your espresso machine remember to purchase the accessories that make the espresso/cappuccino experience more enjoyable.  There are special espresso cups and spoons and espresso machine cleaning brushes and detergents that can be purchased from different vendors online.  It is important to care for your espresso machine as recommended by the manufacturer for the machine to last longer producing delicious tasting espresso each time.

Singles Find Love Faster With A Professional Matchmaker

Singles who choose to roll the dice and sign up with traditional online dating sites, quite often, are taking a chance with the safety of their personal information, as well as opening the door, for unwanted individuals, to infringe on their privacy. These sites have thousands of members, from all walks of life, who have never been screened, much less asked to verify their true identity. There is a price to pay for free service and that is the uncertainty of the entire dating experience, including the final outcome and potentially, other unforeseen incidents, such as dating websites that are actually fake. Many companies that operate online dating sites, do not have an active customer support group and the process of locating a suitable companion, is almost always a risky proposition, takes time, money and a lot of patience. One of the primary factors that are associated with companies that have a successful business model is unequivocally, customer satisfaction. Professional matchmakers will take the time, to find out who you are and discuss in great detail, specific partner preferences, personality traits and social attributes. The key to making a match is to know your client very well and what they really want. Sometimes, compiling a complete profile, requires gathering a lot of information, but also wisely putting that data, into the proper context, which in this case means, to reconcile the client, the information and the potential partner, in one fell swoop. Essentially, the process of pairing up people becomes more than just throwing darts at the general direction of a board. It gets transformed into a personalized, precisely measured exercise, which is quite different for each client. People may have similar traits and experiences, but they’re certainly not the same. A generic approach to the solution is unpredictable and significantly, reduces the chances for success. On the other hand, professional matchmakers, based on their time tested and highly successful techniques, can quickly and easily pinpoint with a high degree of accuracy, the ideal match for you and then proceed to make the necessary arrangements, for a formal introduction. The initial contact, could be as simple as an email exchange, an online chat session at a predetermined time, a phone call and if both parties are comfortable, meeting up for a cup of coffee. These experts draw on years of experience, to easily find long lasting romance for their customers. Many successful matches have turned into lifelong marriages. They have at their disposal, lists or databases of available singles, some of whom, they’ve actually met in person and interviewed. Client expectations are predictably high, not just because of the professional matchmakers’ verifiable, proven track record or the countless testimonials of satisfied customers, but also their hard earned reputation, in going above and beyond the call of duty, to get the job done and bring true happiness and joy to their customers.

Rancilio Silvia Espresso

rancilio silvia espresso

Saeco Aroma Makes a Great First Espresso Machine

My very first espresso machine was a Saeco Aroma, which is indeed an updated version of their old Classico cappuccino maker with the updates placing the machine at the head of the class in its price range. I was a little nervous when I purchased the Aroma as I’d read of the persistent leaks when frothing but was relieved to learn that the Pannarello frothing attachment had resolved all issues with leaking. After years of buying lattes and growing more dissatisfied with the taste and strength of the drinks, I decided to purchase my own machine. I wanted an affordable machine but wasn’t quite ready to make the leap to grinding my own beans. I was really interested in purchasing a machine that was made by Starbucks but could never catch it on sale. I also looked at the Rancilio Silvia and was warned that while it looked simple it’s operation was anything but. So after quite a bit of research I made the move to purchase the Aroma, especially after realizing it was indeed the Starbucks I had been looking for all along except without their brand and the extra coin on the price.

Now you’ll hear many people tell you that this machine is a starter machine. Well we all have to start somewhere, and the Aroma is as good a place (the best IMHO) as any for even the most discerning espresso drinker to brew a great shot with beautiful crema nearly every time. The Pannarello wand makes it easy to create beautiful espresso bar froth at just the right temperature. You can easily pick one of these up for $200 refurbished and sometimes pick them up for the same price new. That price is a true bargain as the machine will pay for itself in no time flat considering a venti latte from your favorite place will easily run your $4.75. I can almost guarantee you that your drinks will taste richer and fuller to you, and you don’t have to have a weekly coffee allowance to satisfy your cappuccino craving. The Saeco Aroma is ridiculously easy to use, the pressurized Pannarello wand helps the non expert froth with ease, simply turn the knob and viola. The only caveat to the ease of use of this wonderful machine, is to ensure that you allow it to fully warm and prime, as it will ensure that the milk is steamed. If you miss this step then you’ll have a water mess in your cup.

I’ve had quite a few machines since my first Aroma (and I still have my Aroma to this day), and while the super automatic machines are great for one touch convenience, the Aroma is on par with and even surpasses some of the more expensive coffee and cappuccino makers in the most important area…taste!

- Makes consistently good espresso shots with good crema
- Produces a gorgeous froth any Barista would be proud of
- Quick warms up in under 5 minutes
- Easy to view water level and refill tank
- Professional looks and comes in Black or Stainless steel
- Every part is easily available from Saeco’s online store

Commercial Coffee Maker

Coffee Maker Parts — Get to the Basics

Many distinct types of coffee makers exist-percolators, automatic drip-brew, etc.-but, because of the basic notion of water passing through coffee grounds or beans to create coffee, the coffee maker parts are very similar with each type.

In terms of coffee maker parts, the basic coffee maker is composed of a base, called a heat pad, on which sites a glass or ceramic pot. Along the back of the heat pad a sometimes wide rectangular-shaped cylinder for water stock rises to a long slip with a track underneath to support a filter cup.

This slip mostly has an opening with a flap at the top for decanting the water into the cylinder. Most machines, those fluctuating faintly from brand to brand or make to make, are comprised with these five coffee maker parts: heat pad, water-stock cylinder, a slip with open flap and track, a filter cup, and a coffee pot.

Clearly, a list of the coffee maker parts wouldnt be thorough without mentioning the filter itself. This white pocket of paper-like interwoven fiber is sometimes zigzag-creased and sometimes smooth, but it is always thick and heavy enough to support the weight of coffee grounds.

One creative convenience of the filter is that it is only used once. After use, both soggy filter and coffee grounds are discarded, so cleaning the filter for reuse is unnecessary. As demonstrated by the convenience of the filter, the coffee maker parts in general work together to make that great rich cup of smoldering coffee – the best ever inhaled!

The method of brewing coffee, in the theme of the relationship between the coffee maker parts, is a simple and easy course: Cold water is decanted through the flap on the top of the slip and stored in the back cylinder until the machine is heated up.

When the water is at the right temperature and the pad at the bottom of the machine is hot, the water in the cylinder is siphoned through the slip and down into the coffee grounds within the filter. Coffee then fills the or else empty pot below.

These coffee maker parts work like a snap-one, two, three! Only a few parts need to start this process efficiently, and when each part is working properly, the process is good-to-go!

Dispenser Beverages

Newair Ai-300s Water Dispenser and Icemaker Gives You Two Appliances in One

Multi-tasking is now a way of life for many Americans, and having appliances and furniture that can serve more than one function is becoming increasingly popular and in demand.  Furthermore, many younger Americans in urban cities are turning to condo living because they can own for almost the same cost of renting. Consequently, these living quarters are smaller and provide less storage space than single family homes.  Thus, this prompts the need for home products to be more multi-functional and compact. Thankfully, many home appliance manufacturers have taken this into consideration and have come out with an array of products that can perform more than one function at a time. From portable air conditioner and space heater combos to showerhead and filter packages, consumers now have several choices when it comes to multi-functional appliances.  However, one of our favorite combination appliances has to be water dispensers with built-in icemakers.

We’ve all heard about the many health benefits associated with drinking sufficient amounts of water. Water forms a major part of our body constitution, is critical for our survival, and ensures the smooth functioning of our body systems. As such, water dispensers are a great way to make sure you’re drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. The AI-300S by NewAir dispenses cold water and includes a built-in icemaker that produces both crushed and cubed ice in a matter of minutes – perfect for icy cold beverages in the summer!

Our product team was able to test this great icemaker, and we were amazed by its features and performance.  In fact, we used this during our monthly company party, and everyone was impressed by its design and how quickly it produced ice.

First Impression:  When we unpacked the NewAir AI-300S icemaker and water dispenser, we really liked its sleek and compact design.  It sported a modern-looking silver finish with easy-to-ready control panel.  Furthermore, although it weighed roughly 53 pounds, because of its cubic design, it fit onto our kitchen countertop without any problems.  The NewAir AI-300S was very well packaged with plenty of insulation, and unit was free of any dings or blemishes when it was unwrapped.  Included with the AI-300S was also an easy-to-understand instruction manual.

Water Dispensing:  The NewAir AI-300S provided us with perfectly chilled, 39° F water, and best of all, we appreciated the fact that it was able to accommodate both bottled water and a direct water line connection.  The direct line connection was easy to install, and also included was a filter net, drain plug for easy emptying, as well as a water level indicator.  For easy maintenance, the NewAir AI-300S portable ice maker and water dispenser also had a self-clean button.

Ice Making Capabilities:  The hallmark of the NewAir AI-300S portable icemaker and water dispenser was definitely its ice making abilities.  The unit produced two types of ice – crushed and cubed – in as little as ten minutes.  One hundred ice cubes could be produced per hour, and this amounted to approximately 26 pounds of ice in one day.  Furthermore, when we opened the front lid, we found that the ice basket was deep enough to store 1.65 pounds of ice at once.  This was more than adequate for our needs.

Overall, we really liked the NewAir AI-300S portable icemaker and water dispenser.  If you enjoy ice in your drinks and you want the convenience of also having your own water dispenser, this one does the job wonderfully.

Automatic Commercial Coffee Machine

automatic commercial coffee machine

Semi-Automatic And Super-Automatic Coffee Machines

There are many features available on a coffee machine these days, and depending on the features that these machines offer, the pricing is done. If your machine comes with a digital display, you would be able to set the timer, program the water levels, set the temperature of the drink in process and so much more, but also the price would be more than a coffee maker without one as well. A bypass doser will allow you to save time and effort as you can use pre-ground coffee if it is there. Some espresso machines can also take the brew temperature to steam temperature within seconds.

The two types of espresso machines are semi-automatic and super-automatic, but you can count on both to be a bit expensive. Just like everything else, both the types have their advantages and disadvantages and since a coffee machine is a costly buy, it is best to know both sides of the story before you can finally decide which one to buy.

It must be noted that the semi-automatic machines are the most common types of machine found in homes and they also allow you to control the brewing of the coffee. The brewing process is usually complete within just half a minute while for making cappuccinos or other sort of coffee drinks the machines usually come with a frothing adapter or stem. The commercial portafilters that the semi-automatic coffee machines have are made up of a metal container and a plastic handle. A little case of trial and error might be involved before you get the grind setting and tamp pressure perfect.

If you want a grind which is coarse, then the ring that controls the water speed will allow the water to flow fast, on the other hand if you would like your coffee to have a finer grind then just the flow of water would be much slower. The ring inside is not only there to control the flow of the water by the way, it also makes the cream on top better. However, tamp pressure and grind won’t even be something to consider if your coffee machine has a pressurized portafilter.

A super-automatic machine will make a fine cup of espresso within a matter of seconds at the push of just a single button. The only tweaks that you must do with the machine are the little settings that you need to adjust just once to pre-program the coffee machine. If you need cups of coffee at a fast pace and want to skip the part of brewing, then the super-automatic machine might be a good choice.

As more and more people have enjoyed true gourmet and specialty coffee, there are many models of espresso coffee makers out in the market today. There are some models that practically do everything and all the user has to do is to plug the espresso coffee maker and a perfect brew of espresso will be ready in just a couple of minutes.

Choose your coffee machine after considering the price, the features that you need and your budget, try to strike a balance between all the three factors.

Espresso Machine

espresso machine

Commercial Espresso Machines

This article is aimed at commercial caterers to help them decide which type of espresso machine to go for.

A properly commissioned and maintained traditional commercial espresso machine will be an asset to any catering establishment and keep customers contented and coming back for more.

One of the most convenient ways of supplying this insatiable demand is with a traditional espresso machine.

Unlike bean to cup machines, the use of a commercial espresso machine in the making of espresso-based drinks is a more elaborate, time consuming and skilled process. This however adds to the charm and uniqueness of the drink as the customer can usually see each stage of the process and the care taken to produce it.

Watching a skilful and experienced barista operate an espresso machine can be entertaining as they go through the process of making the final delicious beverage.

There are basically two main things to consider when buying an espresso machine; how many group heads and whether to go for semi-automatic or automatic.

Machines come in two, three or four group head varieties (sometimes just one) with associated increase in cost. As each group head is capable of producing two drinks at a time (by using a double spout filter basket) machines are capable of producing 4,6 & 8 drinks correspondingly at the same time. This enables different operators (baristas) to use the machine at the same time and with training several operators could keep an almost continual supply of coffee flowing at busy periods although this is a very labour intensive process.

Generally the busier you expect to be at peak periods then the more group heads you should consider on the model of machine. Bear in mind though that if you only have one operator then they are unlikely to be able to operate more than two groups at a time.

Semi-automatic machines require more operator attention as they will need to press the button to start the brew cycle, monitor its progress and press the same button again to stop. Obviously a longer drink (more water) takes longer than a standard espresso and the operator will need to monitor and react according.

Automatic espresso machines have buttons calibrated to pre-set drink brewing times enabling the operator to simply press the button once and the brew cycle is taken care of. Buttons are easily programmed in advance for different cup sizes and drink lengths for extra convenience and flexibility. Obviously the barista still has to pre-load and tamp the basket in the usual manner before executing the brew cycle.

Depending on the number of group heads most machines come with a suitable number of steam wands for frothing milk and perhaps a hot water arms for dispensing hot water for making tea.

Since a high percentage of drinks served will likely contain frothed milk it will be a good investment of your time to master the technique of frothing milk. It takes practice and some skill, but once learned it will enable you to produce fantastic looking and tasting drinks and allows you to train others.

It is possible to buy third party semi-automatic milk frothers that attach to the steam arm of the espresso machine to facilitate easier frothing but we feel that these should be avoided (though many might disagree). Add-on milk frothers can be clumsy and not function to a consistent basis as well taking some of the charm and sophistication out of the coffee producing process.

Whilst a traditional espresso machine looks fabulous and attracts attention, the sight of a plastic milk frother attached to the machine can have be detrimental!

Traditional espresso machines are big business. There are now a large number of manufacturers of such machines and the number is growing all the time.

It is best to choose a manufacture that they have been producing espresso machines for a number of years and are familiar with the industry.

Only consider plumbed models as some single group machines are available with an integral water tank but these can cause problems with ’stale’ water.

Make sure the machine is made of high quality metal and not hardened plastic. Smaller, cheaper machines are available but should really be restricted to the domestic kitchen and never used in a commercial environment. You may make great savings initially but unless you are only serving a few cups a day you will very likely wish you had bought a more durable model in quick time.

Operating a commercial espresso machine does require expert trainning. Most reputable supply companies will provide onsite training to all relevant staff when the machine is installed and commissioned.

Staff should practice many times producing different speciality coffees before ‘going live’ with real customers. Particular attention should be paid to the tamper and milk frothing techniques.

Even the best and most reliable espresso machine will break down from time to time. Despite careful maintenance an espresso machine could still malfunction at least once a year to the extent that that an engineer is required.

It appears that the majority of engineer call outs to mend espresso machines are due to inadequate cleaning routines or user error. Problems can arise from bean contamination resulting in grinding errors, failing to empty the used grounds tray regularly and inadequate cleaning of the apparatus.

Most new espresso machines are sold with a 12 months parts and labour service included in the price. However this type of agreement only covers genuine machine faults, and NOT faults caused by user error or improper cleaning practices. Such engineer call outs are chargeable even if they fall within the 12 months guarantee period!

Boiler inspections ‘ All commercial espresso machines are required to have annual boiler inspections. This is due to the high pressures involved and is a health and safety issue. This is required under UK law.

It is recommended that a calcium treatment unit is installed close to the machine to eliminate limescale build-up. For the average use medium volume machine a 18-23 litre calcium treatment unit is recommended that will last for approximately 6000 cups.

A quality traditional espresso machine can be a real asset to any catering establishment. It offers a personal, time-honoured and successful way of producing high profit speciality coffee drinks.

Don’t forget to pay particular attention to the servicing costs and water treatment systems.

However a reliable and well-maintained espresso machine should give many years of profitable service and provide excellent quality delicious drinks for your customers.

Why Keurig One Cup Coffee Brewer Makes Perfect Mothers Day Gift

Here is one more year and Mother’s Day is in the week, did you come up with a gift yet?

Let me make a suggestion for you, please buy her Keurig One Cup Coffee Brewer, she is going to love it. I got this as a present for Mother’s Day last year and I am using it every day since. It makes my life so much easier, with all the other stuff that need to be prepared and cleaned this is the only thing that does all that for me. Talk about the change of scenery, it is not me doing preparation and clean up, my only “job” in this case is to push the button and familiar aroma starts wafting through my house. I am already seeing myself enjoying that perfect cup of coffee in my favorite chair and not warring about anything else, how is that for the positive start of day?

There are different types of Keurig single K-cups makers, simpler or fancier, less or more expansive, black, red or stainless steel… list goes on, but a beauty about all of them is simplicity of the process and no mess or fuss involved. Brewers use plastic containers, called K-Cups, that are packed with pre measured amount of coffee (or tea and hot chocolate if that is preferred choice of beverage) and tightly sealed to assure freshness of your java every single time. You just put that container into machine, add desired amount of water and about 40 seconds later perfect cup of coffee is ready. Some people reuse cups but my recommendation is to go with a new, fresh pack each time. K-cups are available for purchase in more that 100 retail stores but the best prices are on Amazon site. There you can buy K-cups in packaging of 50 pieces per case, usually for around $20 or less per case, so final price is 50 cents or even less. All popular brands like Coffee People, Green Mountain, Diedrich, Gloria Jean’s, Timothy’s, Newman’s Own Organics, Tully’s, Caribou and others are available, and as I mentioned before, you can find hot tea and hot chocolate K-cups packaging as well.

Same goes for Keurig K-Cups Coffee Brewers, you can find them in every store that sells household appliances but for most choices and best prices I recommend you go through Amazon . You can find all customers reviews, manufacturer info and descriptions, pros and cons of each machine, as well as their prices. Buy that Keurig K-Cup Coffee Brewer and make mom happy for so many days to come.

Happy Mother’s Day!
