Commercial Coffee Espresso Machine

Which is a better appliance for espresso machines? Kenmore or CuisinArt?

I’m looking for buying an espresso machine that is simple for home use so I can learn how to use it and later buy a commercial appliance. I want to open a coffee bar but first I need to learn how to use it. In Sears I found two espresso machines both from CuisinArt and Kenmore and I was wondering which one is best, most reliable and longer lasting? I’ll appreciate your help.

I reckon CuisinArt, but check out this site www.coffeeproductreviews.com for reviews of coffee machines. I did a lot of research before I bought mine.

Coffee Commercial Couple

Information On The History Of Coffee

The history of coffee is long and varied, full of intrigue and excitement. There are a couple of different legends about how coffee was discovered. One says that a shepherd discovered coffee after observing his sheep getting very active after eating the berries off of certain plants. He tried them, and felt the same boost of energy. The story goes that a passing monk observed this, and scolded the shepherd for eating of the “devil’s fruit.” The monks soon found out, however, that the berries would help them remain awake during prayers.

Another legend tells the tale of an Arab, banished to the desert with his followers. Facing starvation, they boiled and ate the berries of a plant they stumbled across. The broth saved the starving exiles, and the nearby town, Mocha, took it as a sign from above. They called the plant and its drink Mocha, in honor of the town. A short history of coffee is as follows…

The coffee plant, Coffea arabica, is native to Ethiopia. Ancient Ethiopians used the coffee beans rolled in animal fat as food. From Ethiopia, coffee made its way to Yemen, where it was first brewed into a beverage. Once coffee was transported to Arabia, however, it was monopolized by the Arabs, who forbade the seeds to be exported. Once seeds were smuggled out, however, coffee was spread to India and Turkey. From there, coffee began to pursue world domination.

By 1600, coffee had been discovered by Italian traders. The Pope, urged by his advisors to ban the drink as evil, tasted it, and baptized it instead, introducing coffee to the Christian population. Captain John Smith brought coffee as part of his supplies to the New World in 1607, and is thought to be the man who introduced coffee to North America.

By 1652, coffee houses started sprouting up in England, and became the place for both learned and the general population to gather. They were dubbed penny universities, since everyone talked over their cups of coffee, which each cost a penny. In 1674, the British “Women’s Petition Against Coffee” was published, declaring that coffee was depriving them of their husbands and causing impotence.

The Dutch are responsible for smuggling coffee out of Arabia in 1690, and introducing it to Java and Ceylon. They became the first people to cultivate coffee commercially, thus creating what would become the world’s largest agricultural commodity.

In 1713, the Dutch unwittingly gave King Louis XIV of France a coffee plant. In 1723, a French naval officer stole a cutting, taking it all the way to Martinique. In fifty years, Martinique was growing over 19 million coffee trees.

In 1727, Lieutenant Colonel Francisco de Melo Palheta visited French Guiana, to settle a dispute between the French and the Dutch. He and the Governor’s wife became involved, and although the French took great care to control its coffee plantations in the New World, he slipped off with seeds and cuttings when he left. His paramour sent him on his way with a bouquet of flowers… concealing the smuggled coffee cuttings. He took them to Brazil, who today is the world’s largest coffee producing nation.

And so it continued. Coffee became America’s patriotic drink after the Boston Tea Party. Coffee production has grown exponentially. The history of coffee is like no other… and will probably continue to expand.

Coffee Vending Machine Rental

Vending Machines with a Fair Price

There is so much to consider while searching for coffee vending machines than just the price tag attached to it. If that is your only area of interest you will likely end up being extremely disappointed in your purchase down the road. The right vending machines for your business need to allow you to focus on making money instead of solving problems.

Ignore the hype by sellers of vending machines and do your own homework. There is no way they have a clue what your vending machine business needs in order to be successful. You know what items you plan to place into the vending machine so those are the types of models you need to look at. You can’t sell drinks in a vending machine made for toys or vice versa.

Take the locations you have for your vending machines into account when you are evaluating your options. If you don’t have those vending machine locations in place then stop focusing on the machines and get moving on it. What good is a vending machine going to do you if you don’t have a good location for it? Make sure the vending machine you purchase is going to fit well into that area.

What features do you want the vending machine to have? It is a good idea to get those that allow customers to use both change and dollar bills. Look for vending machines that get a good safety rating and that are difficult to damage if vandalism should occur. You don’t want yourself or someone else to get hurt. You also don’t want to have to invest a fortune in repairs for it.

Look for information on the various models of vending machines that fit your profile. What types of comments do other owner’s have about them? It is a good idea to write down the information you come across so you can compare it later. You want to invest in vending machines that are a good price but also reliable.

Buying a brand new coffee vending machine may not be the right choice for your business. It can prove to be too expensive and you may not get any more out of it than a good used model. However, you must take care of inspecting it from one end of to the next. Don’t feel rushed to make your decision until you have carefully evaluated all the options such as,coffee machine hire.

You will discover in your research efforts that the most expensive vending machines aren’t necessarily the best. You can buy a more moderately priced on that has a good track record. You will also be able to repair it on your own. The fact that you have less money invested in the equipment for the business means that more revenue can be considered your own profit.

Commercial Coffee Machine

commercial coffee machine

How does a Coffee Machine work?

Almost all coffee machines work in a similar manner. There is water that is boiled that is made to pass through freshly grounded coffee and as it does so the coffee machine mixes the two thoroughly. The liquid passes through a filter so that the solid particles are drained out and what is left is the coffee machine concoction.

There are different kinds of coffee machines and each works in a slightly different manner. A percolation coffee machine is a design in which the heating element is in the pot. The boiling water becomes steam that pushes the water out of the pot and it passes over the basket that contains grounded coffee. This type of machine is cyclic in nature and the brewed coffee falls back into the pot only to be steamed again till the brewing is complete.

The drip coffee machine uses gravity for the brewed coffee to fall into the pot. The water is stored in a reservoir on top and as it begins to boil, it is passed over a measured amount of coffee. The coffee and water mix and pass through a filter at the bottom before the brewed coffee drips into the coffee machine pot.

A commercial coffee machine also uses the technology similar to that of drip machines, albeit high in capacity. The coffee is held in a filter that is placed between the water reservoir and the pot. The additional aspect of a commercial coffee machine is also the dispenser that allows for single cups of different sizes to be dispensed.

Delonghi Coffee Maker Automatic

delonghi coffee maker automatic

The Advanced Features of Delonghi Espresso Machines

Brewing delicious espresso is truly an art, which is why it is necessary to look to a dependable company for your home espresso maker. Delonghi is an established company that offers a large number of choices in espresso machines for a first-class addition to your kitchen decor.

Delonghi machines are designed with modern features, and this company is constantly advancing and upgrading their machines to offer even more choices in brewing. One advantage to a Delonghi espresso machine is that it will come with a gold toned permanent filter. This is especially helpful to improve the taste and flavor of the espresso brew since paper filters are not being used. This is also important because it is eco-friendly, and if you are brewing coffee or espresso, you will not be wasting paper filters. These filters are uniquely designed to keep coffee grounds from filtering into the coffee to ruin the perfect cuppa Joe. These filters also worked to allow the essential oils of the coffee beans to remain in the final brew product for an even deeper flavor and taste.

Delonghi espresso and coffee machines are unique because they come with their own 24-hour timers, so they can be programmed to allow you to wake up to your brew. These machines have an automatic shut off, and it will prevent the machine’s key element from burning out if it is accidentally left on for hours at a time.

One of the most important components to a perfect cup of coffee or espresso is the extraction process. It is necessary for the espresso grounds to be soaked well and infused with water to extract the brew. Delonghi offers a unique spray of water that will evenly soak the espresso grounds to allow for a better flavor extraction. It is also important to use quality water within your brew process because water that is full of minerals or chlorine will alter the taste of the brew negatively. For this purpose, Delonghi offers an advanced filtration system for every espresso machine which will enhance the flavor and taste of the brew product.

One other thing to keep in mind is that Delonghi coffee and espresso machines do offer the helpful Pause n’ Serve feature, which will allow you to pour yourself a cup of coffee during the brew cycle. If you are rushing to get to work in the morning and don’t have time to wait for your coffee, then you can use this function to pour yourself a fresh cup of Joe before the coffee is even done brewing.

Delonghi coffee and espresso makers also offer the advanced feature of the dual cycle machine. This means that you will be saving money by getting two machines in one to make coffee and espresso both. These are top-of-the-line machines that will allow you to have two separate components to brew a fresh pot of coffee or a shot of espresso. The bottom line is that you can’t go wrong with Delonghi machines if you are hoping for the finest quality and taste in your coffee and espresso!

Commercial Coffee Maker

How to Choose the Best Coffee Maker for you

Nearly every coffee lover would like to have the best coffee maker in their own home and office. For the serious coffee lover, even the RV must have a perfect coffee machine. But different coffee machines fit different people and different locations. For those interested in aesthetics, nearly any finish, color, and style of a coffee machine can be found.

More pragmatic variations exist in coffee machines. You can get automatic coffee machines, espresso coffee makers, French presses, vacuum coffee machines, drip coffee makers, pods, and stove top coffee makers. Additionally, nearly all of these coffee machines can specialize in producing hot or cold brewed coffee. Many coffee machines also do the coffee grinding for you.

There are hundreds of companies that have their brands on at least one type of coffee machine. Among the most common types of coffee machine makers are Sunbeam, Senseo, Saeco, Breville, Delonghi, and Jura.

In addition to coming in a variety of colors, coffee machines can be made of a variety of materials. Plastic, stainless steal, and glass are the most common materials composing coffee machines. The main material to be aware of is shatterproof glass. You want your carafe to be shatterproof glass.

If you have a giant kitchen or a large office coffee room, you will want to get a commercial coffee machine that can make twenty or more cups of coffee at one time. Many of these commercial coffee machines will also include some very nice extra features such as a thermostat, warming plate, filter, timer, and frothing system. As you might guess, a coffee machine with most of these features can be quite expensive. The main thing to remember is that the price can be adjusted downward by doing without various features. Some have found the price reasonable enough to buy one of these models for the home.

Which brings us to the closing concept of shopping within your budget among your coffee machine options. If a coffee machine doesn’t make the kind of coffee you drink the most, you probably don’t want to spend much money on it. For example, if you mostly drink cappuccino, how often will you really use your coffee machine instead of an instant cappuccino or going to the coffee shop for cappuccino? Save up and shop for a good cappuccino maker in this case as you’ll be much happier with it. You should always shop around until you can find the best coffee maker that makes the perfect coffee for you within your budget.

Commercial Cappuccino Machines

commercial cappuccino machines

Setting Up Espresso and Cappuccino Bars at Home

Espresso and cappuccino have become popular drinks both with people who like coffee and people who don’t typically drink coffee. Espresso is the stronger of the two drinks and also the basis for the majority of coffee drinks purchased in coffee shops.

However, people don’t have to go to a coffee shop to get their favorite espresso and cappuccinos; they can make them at home.

Commercial espresso machines are huge and very expensive, not to mention the training and skilled involved in using them. The good news is that the same companies that designed the commercial cappuccino machines have also designed home espresso makers.

Shopping List

Espresso Maker

To set up a home espresso and cappuccino bar, there are some items that must first be purchased. The most important thing is the espresso maker.

There is a wide variety of espresso makers available for home use. There are automatic and semi-automatic espresso makers that are reasonably priced. Choosing one involves some research to determine what is needed.

Home espresso machines range from off the shelf, retail store versions that aren’t very expensive but also aren’t designed for heavy use, to ones designed for heavier use that are automatic and do everything with the touch of a button.

Once the espresso maker has been decided on, a coffee bean source should be located. This too should be done with some thought and research. Low quality beans will result in low quality espressos and cappuccinos.

Coffee shops or direct from the growers via the Internet are two good places to find top quality beans. Coffee shops use a lot of inventory which helps to assure that their products are fresher than those that might have been sitting on the grocer’s shelf for months.

Once these two items have been purchased the remaining items are the basics that should be on hand for making the best espressos and cappuccinos without going to the local Starbucks.

Mugs

A variety of espresso cups and cappuccino mugs are needed. Espresso should not be served in a typical coffee mug, it takes away from the whole experience and  makes it more like drinking a shot of coffee.

Espresso cups are demi cups that are often kept in the warmer of the espresso maker, if it has one. If not, hot water can be poured into them just prior to pouring the espresso.

Cappuccino mugs come in several different shapes. There are tall, fluted mugs that can also be used for lattes and there are large soup bowl looking mugs.

Cappuccino mugs should be large enough to hold the liquid, foam and any toppings without spilling out.

Miscellaneous Items

Other items that should be kept on hand for a cappuccino and espresso bar include:

  • Long handled spoons for scooping the froth onto the drink
  • Flavored syrups for cappuccino
  • Cocoa powder
  • Cinnamon powder
  • Chocolate bar for shavings
  • Biscotti – excellent to serve with the cappuccino or espresso

Home espresso and cappuccino bars are an added luxury that will impress friends and make the neighbors envious, not to mention the money that will be saved by not stopping at the coffee shop every morning.

Tips For Buying A Great Espresso Maker

Most people who love specialty coffee drinks eventually purchase an espresso maker. With a good one, you can make all your favourite drinks in the comfort of your own kitchen and try out a new recipe or two. Since this is a large investment, you should spend some time learning about these machines before you buy. Learn about the features available and then read some reviews to find the best machine for your home.

Common Types of Espresso Maker

Manual Espresso Makers

Manual machines require you to do all the work. You measure and grind the beans, tamp the grounds and brew the coffee. These are the least expensive machines. Some avid espresso drinkers will only use a manual machine.

Semi Automatic Machines

Semi automatics do some of the work for you. You adjust the water temperature and pressure. Grind and tamp the beans and the machine will do the rest. They are more expensive than a manual machine, but much more affordable than a fully automatic model. These machines are a good first cappuccino maker.

Automatic Machines

Automatic machines do the whole job for you. All you need to do is add the water and the beans. With the touch of one button, you will have a great cup of your favourite java drink.

Super Automatic Machines

Super automatics do everything from grinding and tamping the beans to the finished product. They pre infuse the beans with water for more flavour than other machines. The entire process is faster than regular automatics. These machines are often found in restaurants and coffee bars.

Great Espresso Maker Features

The features vary from machine to machine. When comparing two models, look at the features included with each to determine which will suit your needs better.

Bean Grinder

More expensive machines often have a built in grinder. The beans are ground for each individual cup. This results in more flavour from the oils inside the beans. The drink will taste fresh with this feature.

Milk Frother

For cappuccino or latte drinks, you will need a frother. This can either be a frothing wand or a separate milk container. More expensive models have a container.

Pod Compatible

Pods are small packets that consist of a filter material on the outside and ground beans on the inside. The pods are pre measured for one cup. Just put the pod in the machine and brew your coffee. Most people either love the pods for the convenience or hate them and lament the bitter taste.

Water Filter

Some of the more expensive machines have a built in water filter to remove chlorine or other chemicals from the water prior to brewing. These are mostly carbon filters. If your water is heavily chlorinated, you will notice the difference with a built in filter.

Cup Warmer

A cup warmer keeps the cup warm before brewing. This results in a hotter drink. This feature is usually located on the top of the machine.

Hot Water Dispenser

Some machines have a separate valve for dispensing hot water. This feature is great for making tea or hot chocolate. Most machines used in commercial establishments have this feature.

Some Other Things to Consider

●   Steel or brass machines are best. Some people detect an aftertaste with aluminium machines.

●   Look at the pump pressure on home coffee makers. More powerful pumps work will with finer grounds. You should have a minimum of 14 bars or more for pump pressure.

●   Look for a removable water tank. This is easier for cleaning or emptying and will prevent stagnant water from collecting at the bottom of the tank.
