Italian Coffee Maker- regular coffee vs. espresso//Cholesterol?

I just bought an “Italian Coffee Maker” thinking its a coffee brewer that you use on the stove. I like a cup of coffeee every now and then, but my dad pointed out to me and I read on line that its really to make espresso.
I’m pretty health conscious so I wanted to kno if I use a filter to make regular coffee with it(which ive done before with another little maker like this) will is reduce the cholesterol–ness? lol >_<

Dont make fun, but I heard on MSNBC once that you should use a filter even with capuucino machines because without it you can raise your cholesterol..(significant difference)
So is this different from he cappuccino thing I heard? Can I make regular coffee and not have to worry about that?
Or.. you I just return it and get a regular little coffee machine?

First time I’ve heard of that one…

A filter can reduce cholesterol from coffee?

Is there much cholesterol in coffee to begin with? If so, how can a paper or mesh filter, make it healthier. I think that’s a big myth.

I happen to brew 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee in a vaccum brewing coffee machine. It uses a mesh filter and makes EXCELLENT cups of coffee.

I buy the coffee at www.FASTCAFE.com

Good Luck :)

Espresso Coffee Dispenser

Commercial Coffee Grinders

Commercial coffee grinders are as the name implies; grinders used for commercial purposes. The number one priority from each company is the ability to guarantee uniform grinding with every setting available on that grinder. They are designed for continuous use, fast grind time, long time use with a heavy duty ½ horse power motor to do that. Most are burr grinders, but blade grinders are available. The list of where commercial coffee grinders are used is too long to name them all here. But, to name some of the major spots include coffee houses, tea shops, yes tea houses for those who also enjoy a good cup of coffee, short term high quality convalescent  centers, hospitals, restaurants, pizza places, coffee roasting shops and large corporations where they want to serve their clients a great cup of coffee.

The first concern when buying a commercial grinder is the need and the amount of use. This immediately leads to the three types of commercial coffee grinders. The three types of commercial coffee grinders are: retail grinders, food service grinders and last, but not lest espresso grinders.

Retail grinders are those you find at the grocery store or a specialty store where you can grind your own coffee by the pound. Usually they have one or two, sometimes more, different brands of coffee beans already in a sack that you can empty into the hopper at the top of the grinder. This way you are grinding coffee a select amount; 1 or 2 lbs. The grinders offer a number of click-stop grind settings. The best grinders offer settings from Turkish powder for espresso machines to course grinds for percolators and French press coffee makers. Many grinders today have safety an ETL sanitation rating and are RoHas approved; this means they do not have any toxic metals in the manufacture of that commercial grinder. Grindmaster offers a four (4) year warranty on parts (or 30,000 lbs.) of ground coffee, whichever comes first and one year labor; all other parts are two (2) years and 1 year labor. Other companies offer similar warranties.

Food service grinders also offer a wide range of grind settings from course to Turkish powder. Food service grinders are found in restaurants, coffee houses, fast food restaurants, delis, pizza restaurants, and fine tea houses. They are also found in hotel restaurants and high end short term convalescent care centers. These usually have long-lasting burr grinders that are dependable work horses, yet economical. These coffee grinders come in one, two and three portion hoppers. This allows the server to brew select portions of, say, a fresh ground decaf, a fresh ground light roast and a fresh ground dark (robust) roast coffee. Burr grinders also grind flavored coffees as well without creating a burnt flavor or taste. Most food service grinder companies offer a 3 year warranty.

Commercial espresso grinders offer an exclusive set of grind settings. These grinders have dosers for the barista. The automatic espresso grinders keep the doser chute full of ground espresso coffee that is ready for dispensing right into the porta-filter of your commercial espresso machine. When the doser becomes low the grinder automatically grinds the right amount to refill the doser. Another espresso grinder for the advanced barista offers a manual timer. Here an advanced barista can control the length of the grind and the size of the grind for each espresso, latte or cappuccino.

Coffee Makers Italian

Coffee Makers For The Professionals

How coffee beans are judged is the profession of a barista, a coffee maker.  Coffees taste is judge by a cupper, a professional taster.  All this expertise is combined to help buyers get the best beans to make the best cup of coffee.  However, the barista is the person you see at your coffeehouses.  They note every comment, good and bad, to judge the failure or success produced by cappuccino machines and other coffee brewing methods.

About 70 countries grow coffee beans in a band from the Equator to about 25° north or 25° south.  Plantations are found in Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean and even Hawaii.  It is the barista’s job to decide which region supplies the best beans as influenced by their customers.

Due to varied climates, altitudes, machinery and techniques, each country’s beans have different qualities.  Each plantation will also have individual variants of the two main types of beans, robusta and arabica.  Robusta is the bean of choice due to lower caffeine levels.  It is used for the best coffees, supplying better flavor and aroma.

Arabica beans are best grown at above 3000ft.  Brazilian arabica beans are less preferred, being grown at lower levels.  Ultimately, the final decision is down to if you are roasting your own beans or getting pre-roasted beans.  Green beans normally smell like vegetables and are soft.  Choose them if you are doing your own roasting.  If you want roasted beans, the varieties are seemingly endless.

Roasted beans come in many flavors.  Cinnamon or light beans refer to the color only.  They are very acidic and very high in caffeine.  American roast or medium is fractionally darker and used by Folger and Yuban, but not the best quality.  City roast or dark is a specialty item with less caffeine and the taste is acidic, but the final cup is not so bitter.  It is an average type espresso.  French roast is very dark and oily in appearance, but not burnt.  They give a full-bodied flavor.  Italian roast is used for the best espresso drinks.  It is the darkest colour, a strong aroma, the least amount of acid, has the lowest caffeine and is much sweeter.  This sweetness results from the carmelization of the beans’ sugars during roasting.  The lower caffeine levels result from being burned away during roasting.  The result is a mellow cup of coffee.

Therefore, when you go coffee bean shopping you can play the amateur barista.  You have the basic knowledge, but without the long line-ups of customers and a store full of machines.

Italian Coffee Makers

Coffee Maker – A Whole New Meaning To The Phrase

When a friend mentioned to me that they had a new coffee maker I naturally assumed there would be a shiny new coffee pot and heater unit sitting on the kitchen counter top. But that wasn’t the event at all. My friend had been introduced to a new ‘Barista’ whose new espresso coffee recipes were making a big stir with the local office crowd.

My knowledge of such a profession was sadly lacking but I became very impressed with the skill, knowledge of beans and roasts, and the deft handling of a large variety of complex and subtle coffee drink recipes. Indeed, the whole art of making coffee requires an array of skills, an advanced knowledge of product and months of practice and that was something that was very impressive.

The actual word ‘Barista’ is really Italian for bartender but in the English language it has come to mean someone who prepares espresso based coffee drinks, although in North America generally the term has been used for any one employed in a coffee house situation. I like the comparison with the word for wine expert which is ‘Sommelier’ as a ‘Barista’ must also be highly trained in all aspects of coffee, roasting, blending and the use of espresso equipment. Goodness knows how many different types of coffee there are in the world or even more relevant, how many different blends!

A coffee maker can be a finely educated ‘athlete’ when it comes to mixing exotic espresso drinks and there are competitive events around the globe where a barista can show his or her skills, but it takes flair, training and much practice to be considered for such performances. The Olympians of the coffee makers world.

Monte Carlo was the site of the first World Barista Championship and that was in 2000 and it quickly caught on. Almost ten years later, the World Championships are held in a different country each year and host the winners of the various national titles. Judges assess the drink made and the person who made it. The score includes not only taste but presentation and speed, as preparation is against the clock with only fifteen minutes being allowed for each Baristas performance.

Every entrant must use the espresso machine provided but many bring a whole grab-bag of exotic ingredients. Syrups, sprinkles, fruits, ground spices and even their own blended coffee roasts. In fact they must prepare four signature drinks, four different cappuccinos and four espressos while four judges sample, taste and smell: all with foam art and graphics, to complete the presentation. Fifteen minutes can mean a whole lot!

Winners have made coffee drinks with cane sugar, pepper-gel, lavender, white pepper, infused sage leaves, honey and dark chocolate squares. The 2004 World Champion from Canada named Sammy Piccolo, used raw sugar, egg yolks, curry, bittersweet chocolate and milk with his specially blended coffee roast and called his winning creation ‘Insieme’.

These competitions require dedication and hard training, just like any athlete working towards a World Championship and this puts a whole new perspective on the phrase ‘Coffee Maker’, so when you are considering your next cup of espresso, think about some new recipes and some new flavorings and maybe you could be our next representative.

Italian Coffee Makers

Buying A Coffee Maker With Common Sense

On one occasion I purchased a mocha coffee pack from a local coffee merchant and about a week and a half later found that the product was no good, quite understandably I was not best impressed and went back to the dealer to either secure a refund or trade my purchase for some other coffee related product or items. Now It turns out had been very careless and lost the cashiers receipt that the coffee vendors employee had supplied me, due to the fact that the employee had quit the day after I was left with a fairly useless bundle of merchandise and an empty space in my account.

Another reason to look after your payment receipt when ordering coffee products is lets presume you buy italian coffee blender and 4 days later a far superior product arrives on the scene, clearly the coffee vendor you sourced it from won’t give your funds back but all is not lost, a small loss will perhaps be incurred but the fact that the original coffee dealer gave you a payment receipt means that the day can still be saved. Due to the fact that your coffee product is so new it will definitely be worth offering it on an auction website that specializes in food and drink or coffee related merchandise, at the end of the day you are going to make a small cash loss but are not stuck with a product that you are not fully happy or pleased with.

Sales receipts are more valuable as you might suppose and they are closely connected with product insurance and your consumer rights, again imagine for a moment you buy an Italian coffee brewer or possibly a stainless steel coffee blender , then something happens and your coffee machine is destroyed, lost or stolen, if the coffee store receipt is safe then obtaining your insurance payment will be doubly fast when compared to if you had you lost that first cashiers slip.

When you are ordering items like cuban coffee samplers to glass coffee storage jars it might be that for some reason you will to take out some kind of warranty or further insurance, now this is all very well but 99% of all warranties will certainly require you to also produce a payment receipt with your warranty papers, now if you get a relatively expensive coffee then obviously it would be a catastrophe to lose your cashiers ticket as any possible warranty protection may be lost.

Even if you do not obtain a warranty when buying a coffee grinder or some other kind of coffee machine you will certainly need a receipt, there may be a number of reasons for you to return to the coffee merchant or electrical store and without a receipt you needn’t bother going. Coffee products are no different from any other item you might purchase so you must ensure you keep that sales ticket.
